Peter Walton, Referee

Peter Walton is the oldest referee in the Premier League.

That crafty old Peter Walton…

The official age at which a referee must retire is forty-nine. Peter Walton is fifty-one. There could be no other reason to exempt him from the rule than by a tenure of consistently high-rated performances and exceptional fitness, including mental acumen.

The other night he calmly booked a player with an imaginary yellow card.

…is really crafty!
